Kent Newton has been in the hair industry for over 16 years. Prior to opening his own salon, Kent was a senior stylist, salon manager, and education director at two of Boston's finest Newbury Street salons - James Joseph Salon and Salon Mario Russo.
Kent seeks to style hair to enhance the natural beauty of each client of any age. As has been said of his work: "Neither overly trendy nor ultraconservative, Newton makes sure his clients leave his chair pleased with their polished and pretty manes."
Kent has trained with Bumble and Bumble, Vidal Sassoon, The Doves, Toni and Guy, and Orlando Pita.
A self-professed "architectural junkie," Kent believes that "a perfect haircut is the foundation of every great look."
Working backstage, Kent has been a part of numerous fashion shows, including Chanel, St. John, John Varvatos, and Tommy Hilfiger.
With a long and loyal client list including local and national celebrities, Kent, as "W Magazine" wrote, "...has styled his fair share of Beantown's Elite."
Amanda Pierce, Stylist
Amanda Pierce joined Kent Newton Salon to pursue her passion in the beauty industry. She graduated from a school partnered with Paul Mitchell and continues to pursue excellence, completing courses with Vidal Sassoon, Wella International, L'Oréal Professionnel, Brazilian Blowout, Kérastase, and Nioxin. Amanda has a friendly, outgoing attitude and creativity that inspires others. She finds fulfillment by revealing the beauty in your hair.
Taylor Ellis, Stylist
Taylor Ellis has been an accomplished stylist for over 13 years. Before joining the team at Kent Newton Salon, she was not only a stylist but also the salon manager and director of education at the distinguished James Joseph Salon on Newbury Street for over 10 years.
Taylor has trained with Vidal Sassoon, Bumble and Bumble, Goldwell, Wella International, and CosmoProf. She is currently working towards certification from the American Board of Certified Haircolorists.
Taylor is also the creative director for the Boston Celtics' cheerleaders. She has been the lead stylist for numerous fashion shows, including those for Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Giuliana Teso, Akris, Diesel, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Taylor's work has also been featured by various media, including the "Improper Bostonian," "Stuff@Night," "The Boston Globe," and Channel 7/WCVB Boston.
Michael Marsili, Stylist
Michael Marsili is a personable and passionate stylist specializing in haircutting, color, and styling. He is a strong listener and communicator with over 8 years of experience in the beauty industry. Michael's goal is to find the best shape and color to keep you falling in love with your hair every day.
Brittany Lacey, Stylist
Brittany Lacey has been in the industry since 2008, when she began her career at top salons Diego Boston on Newbury Street and El Coco Aveda. She was trained in L'Oréal Color, Simply Smooth Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Aveda Color, and Avanti Hair Treatment, among many other cutting and color techniques.
Before starting at Kent Newton Salon, Brittany worked at Dellaria Salon Newbury Street, where she worked with New England's own Patriots cheerleaders and Dirty Water Media. She also had experience and training in Wella International color and products, Nioxin, Bumble and Bumble, Morrocanoil, and PHYTO.
Brittany has a true passion for all things hair. Making someone feel as beautiful as they look is her main goal with every visit. She finds such healing in her clients' happiness.
Jamie Macklin, Stylist
James J. Macklin IV, better known as Jamie, has been in the design and cosmetology world for the past 15 years. Beginning his career as an interior designer, Jamie attended the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City and, upon returning to Boston, worked for some of the most noted interior design firms on the East Coast. Realizing his passion for design wasn't limited to designing fantastic spaces, he decided to attend cosmetology school.
Jamie mixes his knowledge of color, function, balance, and structure with his continued education in color, cutting, and contemporary and classic styling. His clients appreciate the attention to detail they receive. Jamie believes hair is an expression of one's self, and being able to listen to the desires of a client, consulting clearly to find the best style, and then executing flawless, manageable hair is paramount to his clients' happiness.
Jamie has received continuing education in Wella International, Nioxin, Peter Coppola Keratin Treatment, Kérastase, Sebastian, L'Oréal Professionnel, and Sassoon Academy.
Rodin Cole, Stylist
Enormously friendly, charismatic, and eloquent, Rodin Cole has been in the business of making clients gorgeous for over 20 years.
When asked if he thinks that having been dressing hair since 1990 gives him an advantage over the younger talent, he says, "It's been my experience that fashion is cyclical. Each trend makes its way back into the limelight. If you understand it's origins, you have the unique ability to deliver that style with a new sensibility. Christina DeFilippo - Stylist
A graduate of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Empire Beauty School, Christina DeFilippo has a "full circle approach" to beauty. The relationship between client and stylist is the most important part of the service. The client's vision is executed by the artist/stylist, enjoyed by the client, and appreciated by the world.
Christina has worked in Cambridge, Seaport, and the South End. She has extensive experience in bridal hair and makeup, braiding, fantasy color, and hair extensions.
